The mission of our clinic is to provide targeted, high-volume, reduced-cost spay and neuter services in an effort to reduce the dog and cat over-population problem in the Virginia counties of Buchanan, Dickenson, Lee, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington and Wise; the Cities of Bristol and Norton; and the City of Bristol and County of Sullivan in Tennessee. While the clinic’s focus is on serving these counties, animals will be accepted from other counties as availability permits.

Our vision is to end the need to euthanize healthy, adoptable dogs and cats by reducing the number of dogs and cats that enter the region’s shelters.

Woofstock 2009

The MBMSNC invites you to Woofstock 2009 on Saturday, June 6 at Sugar Hollow Park, 10am – 3 pm. Woofstock is a way for the Spay/Neuter Clinic to give back to the community through a day of fun activities for kids, pets and families. Woofstock will feature shows by the Purina Incredible Dog Team, agility demonstrations, attack dog demonstrations and herding dog demonstrations for people of all ages to enjoy.

The event will also feature local food vendors and local retail vendors with great items many of which are pet related. Some of the things attendees can expect in the vendor area are: dog treats, toys, beds, snacks, clothing, collars, leashes, carriers, garden items, unique gifts, art, handmade hats and handbags, homemade soaps and candles and many other unique and interesting gifts.

There are even contests planned to allow dog lovers to show off their animals’ amazing abilities whether it be tricks, 60’s look alike with their owners, or just simple tail wagging. There will also be plenty for kids to enjoy including games and inflatables.

A silent auction consisting of many great items will raise funds that will be used to provide spay and neuter assistance to individuals within our community who can not afford this service for their pets.

The highlight of the day and the event that the staff at the Spay/Neuter Clinic is most excited about is the Purina Incredible Dog Team. This team, a collection of some of the world’s most athletic canines, will entertain fans at venues across the country throughout 2009 and we are excited about having them at Woofstock.

Tony Hoard will be at Sugar Hollow Park with his 6 dogs, representing the Purina Incredible Dog Team, which is made up of a team of eight trainers and more than 30 dogs. The team demonstrates Purina’s passion for pets by delighting crowds across the country with amazing freestyle flying disc routines. These dogs are not only incredible, but are also in excellent physical condition, whether they’re puppies, adults, or seniors.

Utilizing a high-energy performance set to music, the trainers and their dogs entertain while also educating people about responsible pet care and how proper nutrition and training can bring out the best in any dog, at any life stage. The team stresses the “incredible” potential in every dog, which is reflected in a number of canine team members who were adopted at animal shelters and rescue groups around the country. The athletic feats performed by the team include rolling back catches, two legged balancing acts on the trainers feet and jumping nearly 10 feet in the air to snare a flying disc.
